If you have time for only one meal
PARIS:La Coupole is a classic institution in Montparnasse and the world’s most famous French brassiere. The restaurant is massive and the art deco style interior beautiful. These places have had plenty of socializing and historical celebrations for decades. A beautiful sculpture is placed in the centre and artwork highly displayed all around. La Coupole is always crowded and I would suggest making a reservation.
From my previous visits I know the menu has highs and lows, but this time the seafood and the famed lamb curry was perfect – and notoriously served to President Francois Mitterrand which happened to be his last meal. The dish is spicy and delicious if you are a fan of Indian food.
However, the menu is focused on seafood and the every item on the Royal Platter of Seafood was fresh, including all the 18 Irish oysters accompanied by butter bread and pickled onions and lemon. Our desserts of with liquid chocolate were amazing and the perfect end to a lovely meal.
For birthdays, there is uproar of servers parading and singing with lights and sparklers – this happened three times that evening – noisy and fun. This landmark brassiere opened in 1927 and if you were passing through Paris and had time for only one meal to taste French, this is the one.
