ISCHIA, ITALY: The garden emerged like a hideaway, a protection from a nearby piazza and the crowd strolling this town´s main shopping street. It´s like having a seat in a green jungle, swinging the hammock and listen to Vivaldi and birds. All with a view to the mountain and a lounge and bar. In such a moment I knew my reservation was smart one. The right hotel, even before I`ve seen my room at this exclusive hotel.
Arrival at the elegance
Choosing hotel is not easy, but sometimes a name indicate quality and a special place to stay for few nights. Relais Corte Degli Aragonesi is such a name in Italian – a five-star hotel and elegant as its extended name.
The hotel is 15 minutes´ walk from the port and in walking distance to Aragonese Castle. My room was the smallest of total nine guest rooms, but very comfy and overlooking the garden. All the eight suits are unique, featuring different décor and equipped with all the conform of a private residence.
For any couple`s plan for a honeymoon, I recommend the exclusive Garden Suite with private terrace and jacuzzi. All rooms includes a bath tub or shower, hairdryer, bathrobe and free internet all over.
Staff makes the most of it
The day starts with Continental breakfast served near the garden every morning by the mini-pools and scents of citrus. Later the on-site restaurant and lounge bar Coquille, offers international cuisine with special evenings dedicated to ethnic menus including Japanese and Indian specialities. All the staff makes you feel at home – even if you actually stay away from home. A plus for the pro staff at bar and restaurant for excellent service and the best Negroni cocktail I ever been served in Italy. Few rooms, small hotel but so friendly and near to picture perfect.

You can reach Ischia by a short ferry or hydrofoil ride from Naples to Ischia Town, one of six communities on the island. Alilauro is a ferry company operated since 1944 and a ride with one of the hydrofoils takes 45 minutes. The nearest beach is just a short walk from my exclusive hotel.
