Food a mix of traditional Swedish cooking and modern European
TALLBERG, SWEDEN: Watch out and pay attention to this part of Sweden and the world that doesn´t exist anywhere else. From my room at Green Hotel I can watch as far as to Mora and Sollerön, to Rättvik. Further, the old ship “Gustaf Wasa” slowly passing by on the ever-changing lake Siljan and mountains surrounding the lake. And there is Tallberg where humans have bred the village with houses in timber and panel, with fences and sheds. I wonder if all the villages around are built under a strict law and instructing to paint every house in Falun-red. This deep red originated from copper mines. However, the colour is a result of a local tradition.
The touch. At Green Hotel you find sauna, an outdoor swimming pool as well as indoor pool, a tennis court and many more summer activities such as golf and mini-golf. At the local golf course of 9 holes, the Green fee is included in your stay. If you become the first hitting hole-in-one, the hotel offers another free night and a bottle of champagne. Most likely you will let your gaze fly over the lake, feel the landscape, feel the fresh air on a sunny summer night.
Rooms. Comfortable beds and individually decorated rooms. This is guest room in an old building in the unique Dalarna style, with some ultra-modern bath rooms. Free wireless internet in all guest rooms.
Food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the restaurant where all tables offer a view over the lake. The breakfast is excellent with all the local specialities and home-baked bread, even fresh orange juice and warm milk for the coffee. Food served for dinner is a mix of traditional Swedish cooking and modern European. Hotel’s best wines come from Cederberg in South Africa, a vineyard received several awards.
Green Hotel has its own sheep and lambs eating grass in the area of the tennis court, awaiting to be served to guests at some point in the fall.
Art Hotel. Walls at Green Hotel are full of art, including Picasso and photo of President Obama in the dining room. Greenverket is the hotel´s exclusive museum holding the Börjeson Art Collection. Art by old masters, such as Anders Zorn, Carl Larsson, Picasso, Max Ernst and Chagall are on show for free on Saturdays.

Nearest airport is Dala Airport, located in Borlänge 60km from the hotel. Direct train from Tällberg Station to Arlanda International Airport near Stockholm. The train station is a 5-minute drive from the hotel and has several daily connections with Mora, Arlanda and Stockholm. It takes about five hours to drive from Oslo to Green Hotel in Dalarna.
