Traveling is a passion

I have spent much of my life traveling this beautiful globe seeking new experiences and meeting new people. My love for travel has impacted my choices in life when it comes to education and work. I’ve worked as a travel agent, Ambassador for Norway at Walt Disney World and now I organize spiritual trips to places that speak to me on all levels. Today I work as a spiritual coach. My book «Awaken to the Power of the Universe» has brought me new clients from all over the world and I foresee a lot more traveling in the years to come.

Where do you live? Moss, Norway

Grand Canyon, not far away from Las Vegas

Why I visit Las Vegas

Las Vegas got it all! Beautiful nature, great hotels with world class spa and wellness facilities, breathtaking shopping opportunities, amazing restaurants and mind-blowing entertainment! And all this is available right at your fingertips. You can eat at a new restaurant every night for a year and there would still be great restaurants to discover! There is always a new show unless you like the «oldies» and those are available too! Vegas got numerous golf courses to enjoy, great biking opportunities and lots of great hiking trails. Red Rock Canyon is only a short drive from the strip and is my favorite place to recharge.

My early memory: The year was 1988 and I remember how different it was from anything I had seen or experienced before! I was only 13 years old but I was so fascinated by the energy of this city. It had a pulse of it’s own and I remember telling myself I would come back when I was old enough to enjoy all the amenities. I now visit Las Vegas three times a year combining business and pleasure.

My favorite place to eat i Las Vegas

This is a tough question to answer! This city is filled with world-class cuisines and I allow my mood to decide what I will explore each day. I would say that Hugo’s Cellar has great food, excellent service and the atmosphere is «classic» Las Vegas. This place allows to hold a conversation without competing with casino noise, there are surprising elements upon serving and every woman receives a rose as a gift. And who doesn’t love surprises and flowers!

What do you eat there? Charbroiled tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and béarnaise sauce. Yummy!

Typical local food? I would say anything grilled; hamburgers, steaks, ribs etc. A good tip is to ask for half orders.

Meet the locals in Las Vegas

If you visit the Container Park Downtown you will meet many locals. During the day it’s a great place for families to gather but after 9 p.m. it’s open to those over 21. Local events as movie nights or concerts are just some of what the container park offers. I love that you can bring your family and enjoy a day where the kids can run around without being afraid of traffic. It’s relaxing in it’s own way.

My favorite bar: I’m a restaurant person so I don’t have a favorite pub or bar, but I love the «Fremont experience»! Fremont Street offer numerous pubs/bars, restaurants, casinos, street performers, live music and everything is available on this one street! There is something fun to do for everyone!

Best place for a first date? Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi overlooking the Fountains of Bellagio. After dinner strolling over to the Bellagio to see the flower display at the conservatory and botanical gardens, dessert at JP Chocolates where you can see the world largest chocolate fountain. And ending the night with the show «O» Cirque du Soleil. No time for awkward moments!

My secret place: Red Rock Canyon! This majestically mountain range always recharges my energy and allows me to be one with nature. Find your own peaceful place and enjoy the beauty surrounding you. You can see the sun rise or set over the strip allowing you to enjoy this exhilarating city from a different perspective. A must for me to obtain balance between body & soul!

My best advice

Visit Las Vegas in the spring! Beautiful weather to explore and enjoy the dessert.

My favorite shop: I love shopping at the District, which is close to the Strip and the airport. I buy my entire make up at Sephora and love that you can try on the entire make up before you buy! I also love Sweet Bubble for bath confections which are «home» made and without any preservatives. Both places are good for body & soul.

My favorite Event: I just love First Friday Downtown Las Vegas. This is a community gathering where locals meet to appreciate the arts in Las Vegas. Local artist share their work, there is live music, food and lots of people walking around enjoying the special vibe. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy Las Vegas from a different point of view!

Taxi or other local transport? Taxi and shuttle buses are the best way to get around. It’s also easy and cheap to rent a car if you want to see more of the surrounding.

Keep away of: Spring break time! The city is packed with college students from all over the US and the hotels, events and restaurants take advantage of this. Prices are high, events and restaurants are booked.

Why do you travel? Travel is a passion! I love to connect with new places and people. It’s a great way to learn about different lifestyles and cultures. It brings us all closer together and gives us, as human beings, a better understanding and respect for our fellow man.

  1. As a male, Las Vegas is probably the coolest place on earth! Many good tips noted for my next visit. One of my favorite crazy things to do i Vegas is the rollercoasters on top of the Stratosphere tower, Im still grateful to be alive after that. 😀
