Where do you live?
Partly in Thailand, roaming between Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Koh Tao.
Here I grew up:

Why we visit Istanbul
Istanbul has something magical. I believe that is the combination of cultures, food, people and so much history in one place. It’s so different from my country and oddly enough I feel at home when I’m in Istanbul. I’ve been there four times and already booked my 5th visit. Can’t wait to return to my city!
My first memory
I have several memories from Istanbul but the one that never goes away is from our first visit. I was walking around the Spice Bazaar getting inebriated by those lovely scents & colours. So many different spices, candies, foods… One morning checking the stalls and trying almost everything, no lunch needed that day.
Favorite place to eat
Selvi was a great surprise; we were strolling around during one night and spot this restaurant full of locals. It works as a buffet; you can choose from several options and “build” your own dish. Tasty and local food!
Selvi Restaurant, Sıraselviler Cad. No: 42/44 – Taksim – Istanbul
What do you eat there?
Our favourites were Pilav, seasoned rice with pomegranate & Kofte, absolutely delicious!
Where to meet the locals
No better place than the Nargile cafes in Tophane Park. There are several cafes to choose from. The smell of aromatic tobaccos will catch you. Sip a tea, eat some fruits & nuts and play some board games. You will see the pace of the city slow down. Address: Kılıçali Paşa Mh. Tophane
My favourite bar:
Kasette! Here you find great local & international DJs spinning some House and Techno music. The crowd is a mix of locals, Erasmus Students and Expats. Go there early on the weekends, the place gets packed.
Address: Kasette, Asmalı Mescit Mh., Korsan Çk 6, Beyoğlu
Best place for first date
Tarihi Karakoy Balikcisi. This place is perfect for the first date, the second, the third… Real and tasty Turkish food, great selection of wines, impeccable service and amazing views from the Golden Horn. They also have an rooftop bar where you can have cocktails and watch the busy Istanbul from the top.
Tarihi Karakoy Balikcisi, Tersane Cad. Kardeşim Sk.
My secret place
Some secrets are worth to be shared. Take the Tram till Tophane station, walk towards Kabatas and keep an eye on your left hand side. You will see some coloured steps, climb them and take your left, keep walking till Sanarkalar Cadesi. From there you have amazing views from Sanarkalar Park, the Bosphorus, Galata Tower. A lot of locals get together in the end of the day to drink beers & eat nuts. One of the best Turkish coffees that I ever had was in Sanarkalar Cadesi, an old man that make the coffee in the street. Make sure you try it too!
Address: Sanartkalar Cadesi, Cihangir Istanbul
My best advice
Take a boat to Uskudar and walk towards the Marmara Sea. Stop by in one the the cafes facing the Maiden Tower, order a çay, (tea) and be ready to appreciate an unforgettable sunset. Seriously, it`s stunning!
Our favourite shop:
We are crazy about vintage shops. So much life in those places! In Istanbul our favourite shop is By Retro. One of the biggest and oldest second hand shops in Europe. Whatever you want, you can find there.
Address: By Retro, İstiklal Cad. Suriye Pasajı No:166/C, Cihangir/İstanbul
Taxi or other local transport
Public transport works really well and using the boats, metro, tram & funiculars you can avoid the chaotic traffic of Istanbul.
Keep away of? The lousy nightclubs on Istiklal Street. Awful music, expensive drinks and have heard about scams in some of them. They will offer free drinks but you end up with a huge bill.
Update story 2020: Together for about nine years, we have been through a lot of things: travels, parties, family problems, job problems, parties, more travels, dreams, realisations, more parties.
