I always returns to Old San Juan

Where do you live? I travel constantly, I am in New York City right now.
Here I grew up: Maine, USA
Why I visit My City: I love the castles, blue cobblestone streets, yummy food and ocean views.
My early memory: Several years ago I used to volunteer at the El Yunque Rainforest Inn up in the mountains outside of San Juan. On Tuesdays I could take the day off, catch a ride into Old San Juan at 5am and spend the day exploring on my own. I would lounge by the castle El Morro and read in the morning silence, photograph street art and explore all of the shops. I loved it.
My favorite place to eat: Cafeteria Mallorca. Address: 300 Calle San Francisco, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
What do you eat there? A bacon, egg and cheese Mallorca on sweet brioche type bread covered in powdered sugar.
Meet the locals: The Poet’s Passage Cafe, own by famous Puerto Rican poet Lady Lee Andrews. They have the best iced coffee, arts&crafts and it’s the perfect place to hang out. Address: 203 Calle Cruz, San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901
My favorite bar: El Batey, this is the best little dive bar in Old San Juan. The walls are covered in graffitti, the drinks are cheap and the service is friendly. Address: 101 Calle de Cristo, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Best place for first date? Have a picnic and fly kites on the lawn of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, walk below and explore the enchanting Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Grab ice-cream at Ben&Jerrys in Old San Juan.
My secret place: Go dancing at the Nuyorican Café, there is live salsa or reggae music. Sometimes they have poetry slams and comedy too. Address: 312 Cll San Francisco, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico
My best advice: Give yourself a couple of days to explore Old San Juan, there is a trolley that goes along the ocean for free.
My favorite shop: I travel perpetually so I don’t buy very much because I’d have to carry it.
Taxi or other local transport? Free trolley from Castillo San Felipe, walk everywhere.
Keep away of: There is no place I feel unsafe in Old San Juan.
Where next? Florida to get some sun, Colorado for snowy exploring, San Francisco and Los Angeles!
