Paradise Hawaii – Pick your favourite from six islands

Aloha, Hawaii is like no other place on earth – and big waves for surfing

HAWAII: Aloha is one of the first words you will hear upon landing. But Aloha holds a deeper meaning than just hello. Aloha is the way of life in this welcoming state, one that promotes love and harmony. The word is like a spirit and means many things, including hello, goodbye and love. This paradise on Hawaii has its specialities.

Big waves. Hawaii has six major islands to visit and we have put together a guide for first time visitors – a guide on what each island has to offer and they offer a whole lot. Hawaii is like no other place on earth; home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, birthplace of modern surfing, the local cuisine and the people. North Shore of Oahu has some of the world´s biggest waves and Laniakea may be the best point for surfing on this coastline.

Kauai dramatic and romantic

The islands Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, Molokai, Lanai and Kauai all offer something a bit different. Kauai is the northernmost island and graced with dramatic, natural beauty with outdoor adventures and romantic escapades as specialities. Highlights like spectacular sea cliffs of Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon, also known as Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Paradise on Hawaii has a dramatic side.

Oahu is surf Mecca

This island is a mix of nature, culture, modern arts and entertainment and home of the state capitol and the majority of Hawaii’s population. Waikiki is the place for visitors from around the world. Nuuanu Pali Lookout has mountain views, Hanauma Bay is one of Hawaii’s premier snorkeling sites and North Shore is the legendary birthplace of big wave surfing. This surf Mecca attracts the best surfers in the world.

Molokai back in time

Step back in time to the sleepy town and seaport of Kaunakakai. Molokai is an island that has preserved its connection to the past and its love for the outdoors and where nature sets a romantic tone. Papohaku Beach is one of the largest white sand beaches in Hawaii.

Maui has best beaches

The second largest island, known as the “Valley isle” and home to what some believe are the best beaches in the world. Maui’s beaches lie like the happy holidaymakers who laze in hammocks. The beaches all belong to the Mauian people, so you can spread your towel freely.
Mauri is dotted with quaint towns, artist communities and local favorites that have been around for generations. Haleakala National Park is home to Mauri´s highest peak. The coral reef off the south shore has a marine life with parrotfish, yellow trumpet fish and the honu – the turtle’s Hawaiian name. Turtle is the star of the show and summer is the best time to see green turtles.

The Big Island

Hawaii Island, or Hawaii, the Big Island is larger then the other entire island combined. Explore 13 climactic zones – from sandy beaches to snow-capped mountains, see waterfalls, rainforests and botanical gardens and one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Highlights: The historic seaside hot spot Kailua Village, Coffee Plantations and Kona coffee, discover downtown Hilo, the island’s capital city.

The big meal

Honolulu is host to the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival where local chefs highlight the bounty of produce, beef and seafood. Visitors can’t step foot on this island without sinking their teeth into one of Oahu’s sweetest imports, a fluffy malasada. The yeasty Portuguese donuts rolled in sugar are served year-round. “Papu” is the Hawaiian term for appetizer and “Loco Moco” for big meal.

Romance

Paradise Hawaii is made for romance, weddings and honeymoon. The island of Kauai inspires romance with settings made for lovers. Walk along the beach hand in hand and stare at a shimmering ocean reflecting the pathway of the moon.

Hawaii is the place to propose on a palm-fringed and white sandy beach or if you want to say “I love you” the Hawaiian way – Aloha ai oe”.
