Hotel Reina Isabel next to Las Canteras remains a real draw. So too does its rooftop pool.
LAS PALMAS, GRAN CANARIAS, SPAIN. Most visitors to this island are tourists to enjoy the exotic beaches of Southern Gran Canary. The wild and adventures north part of the island is less known for sun seekers. I set course for Gran Canary’s largest city to review Reina Isabel Hotel in Las Palmas. Needless to say, the time spent here gave all kinds of experiences. From Las Canteras beach to the magnificent and stunning buildings in the Old Town, also known as Vegueta.
Hotels next to the city beach
The city of Las Palmas has it all and two premium hotels, Reina Isabel and Sercotel Christiana. Both next to the main hotspots on the city beach. My review of Reina Isabel is a hotel rated as 4 stars, with 225 guest rooms and part of the hotel chain Bull Hotels.
Location: Hotel Reina Isabel is located right on the beachfront. Heading down to the golden sand, you’ll hit Playa Grande, the 2.8km-long beach. Free parking and Wi-fi are provided. The Airport is 25-minute drive away.
Room: My room has been through the glory days, but still great for a city hotel. I would pay extra for a terrace with Atlantic rather than street views, where you can hear the roar of the ocean at night.
Food & Drink: Wine and dine at the seaside with a magnificent view at a terrace overlooking the Atlantic. Buffet dinners and a restaurant which serves Asian-Peruvian fusion cuisine. The Chef’s Pepper steak is my personal favourite, and you can enjoy the tasteful meal along with a fresh Sea breeze as an appetizer.
Pros: The view and the magnificent rooftop pool with a 360-degree panoramic view to the beach and the city. Sun beds available for hotel guests on the beach. Great view from the free gym at the top floor.
Cons: Some noise from traffic on the city side of the hotel.
Business Service: I challenged the staff with some work related tasks, and they nailed them all. This Hotel is well suited for both business and pleasure and I would actually consider using it for business meetings or as a team “kick off” destination for my company in the future.
Value: Great value for money. Most guests return here time after time.
