about berlin

Where do you live? Berlin
Here I grew up: Los Angeles
Why I visit My City: It is the coolest city on earth, amen.

My first memory

I arrived in Berlin in October of 2013 for a brief visit and what sticks out the most is how calm it felt in relation to London, where I had been staying. It was so funky and I felt like I fit in there more than I have ever felt anywhere else. It felt like home after only a few days, so I made it home.

My favorite place to eat: RosaCaleta in Kreuzberg because I love the inventive and ever-changing Jamaican fusion menu: https://rosacaleta.com

What do you eat there? I loved the fish cakes, which surprised me because normally I do not like fish cakes at all.

Yes, you are in Berlin, Germany

Typical local food

Would have to either be currywurst or Doner im brot, which is Turkish but was developed in Berlin.

Meet the locals: Try your luck at Berghain, a dance club.

My favorite club: The above, because dancing the night away is my favorite thing to do.

Best place for a first date: How about a bottle of wine or a few beers on the Spree in the summer as the sun sets?

My secret place

I’ll never tell

My best advice: Don’t try too hard. Berlin isn’t about being flashy, it’s about being yourself. Otherwise, my next best advice is to just wear black.

My favorite shop: I love the Turkish market in Kreuzberg on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Food and clothing items are a steal. Plus I love a good haggle.

My favorite Event: I can’t wait to check out Fusion festival, which is a few hours outside of the city. Everyone who attends speaks so highly of it.

Taxi or other local transport? Take the Ubahn (subway) or a bicycle.

Keep away of: Charlottenburg. There’s nothing to see there.

Why do you travel? I travel for work. My job is my blog
